How would you feel if somebody told you that you look disgusting?

Blogger Em Ford (Instagram, Twitter) felt exactly what you would have felt. She was horrified and totally shocked by how people put such a high pedestal on you for looking pretty, but turn on you the moment they see something unpleasant.

But what does this say about today’s audience?

I cannot even decide where to begin about the humongous number of issues concerning this matter.Why are people so obsessed with looking perfect, with looking so good, that you cannot even recognize the same person when they don’t have any makeup on? Why can we not accept that we don’t wake up looking like perfection? Why can’t people appreciate true beauty? Why does everything have to be photoshopped or edited or changed to be appreciated?

I have had my share of editing. I have had my share of tons of makeup on my face, tons of beauty products on my hair and skin that sometimes I just want nothing on my face and body for months. Because that’s not who I am. And if people won’t appreciate and like me for who I am, that doesn’t say anything wrong about me. But it definitely says something wrong about them.

You don’t look disgusting. You are perfect the way you are. We all are.
